A member asked:

Is it oral thrush if you cant scrape it off your tongue? no lesions underneath. i have a white patch on my tongue but not sure. am 37f in several rounds of antibiotics in august. cephalexin, augmentin, and amoxicillin. normal for an adult?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hard to say: Occasionally the tongue tissue will retain a coat of older skin that appears grayish or white. It adheres tightly to the tongue tissue but eventually sheds during feeding. Thrush would generally be loose & easily removed from any surface it coated. If it doesn't interfere with your activities I would ignore this.
