A member asked:

Husband is running 101.9 fever from a sinus infection.. it's been 24 hours with the fever and he had taken 3 augmentin so far, how come he still has fever? is that normal? how long before the fever breaks from the antibiotics?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Augmentin does not have as effective penetration into "abscess like" sinus infections, and antibiotics such as quinolines such as "levoquin" are more effective. Some infections are also less effectively treated due to bacterial resistance. Consult your physician for additional guidance.
