Is ear pain dangerous?

That depends: Ear pain should be evaluated. An ear infection can lead to meningitis, hearing loss, chronic ear drum perforation and other problems. Some ear infections might be treated without an antibiotic, but that's a decision you should make with your doctor. Tumors of the throat and tonsil can also cause ear pain, as can sinus infection. Ifear pain is unexplained and persistant , see an ENT doctor.

Cause?: Depends on cause. I agree with Dr. Benda's assessment. Unlikely, but possible a serious problem. See ENT doc for assessment/recommendations.
