Yes: Fibrocystic breasts can run in families. It is the most common cause of breast pain. It is not related to the breast cancer gene (brca).

Common: Many women have "lumpy" breasts. Many women also have fibrocystic changes of the breast. Breast tenderness is very common. There are many reasons for the breast pain. Caffeine is the most common reason for breast pain. I recommend monthly self breast exams to make sure none of the breast tissue is changing. If you have any concerns about changes in your breasts, nipple discharge, or pain, i would recommend seeing your doctor sooner than later.
