Yes for the pain: Nerve damage from a radiculopathy can cause numbness, pins and needles, weakness, and pain. Unfortunately there is little that can be done for the numbness but the pain is readily treatable. Frequently your problem requires a multidisciplinary approach and so you need follow-up to have your options explained. Good luck!

Varies: Permanent nerve damage implies the the symptoms you are experiencing will. Never resolve. You might want to consider a second opinion just to give another look to see if you have some other condition contributing to your problem that may be treatable. If not, the whole field of interventional pain management specializes in that area. Thank you for your question.
