Aphthous ulcer: Because of location, it is probably an aphthous ulcer. Viral in origin. Lasts 10 - 14 days. Warm salt water rinses help. Did you perhaps bite your cheek ? This is also very common.

Ulcer: As with any lesion in the mouth, it cannot be identified without a clinical examination and history. Often a biopsy is required. There are very many possibilities so you would have to see your dentist to find the cause.
