A member asked:

Can someone have a hole in their intestine or have their intestine rupture and not know it? is the pain always severe?

Unlikely: In almost all instances of intestinal perforation there is associated intense pain. There are some instances when, due to a decreased immune system , the patient may not experience as much discomfort, but these are not typical.

No: Intestinal perforation is followed in short sequence by progressive pain and usually sepsis. If you have perforated an intestine you will know it.
