Generally well toler: Prilosec and other proton pump inhibitors are generally very well tolerated and millions of americans use these meds. Allergies usually present very early and can occur after a few doses not necessarily after the first dose. One can develop side effects early on or after many years. Smartest thing is to communicate with the prescribing doctor if something doesn't feel right.

Prilosec "allergy"?: Prilosec was introduced in the us in 1989, with considerable experience in europe for years prior. Experience includes now hundreds of millions of well-tolerated prescriptions & over-the-counter courses of treatment. No drug is side effect free however, & in some patients Prilosec use raises concern. Allergies are rare after the first pill of any drug.
