Can i take ibuprofen on an empty stomach?

Yes, if necessary: A person can take Ibuprofen (motrin, advil) on an empty stomach, but may get more stomach irritation that way. It is better to take Ibuprofen with some simple food, such as a banana or a couple slices of bread.

Not a good idea: I do not recommend that Ibuprofen or any NSAID be taken on an empty stomach. If you cannot take it with food, try a glass of milk.

Empty stomach & meds: Ibuprofen is known to cause gastritis or stomach upset. Any of the non steroidal anti inflamatory drugs (nsaids) can cause ulcers and should be taken with food. Some people cannot tolerate nsaids at all.
