Depends: Usually an ultrasound is not enough to diagnose a "blighted ovum" (anembryonic pregnancy). Your OB will correlate with your HCG levels and see if these are changing normally. If they are elevated and still no embryo is seen, you may indeed have a non-viable pregnancy. See your doc & good luck to you.

Who ordered the US: See the doc who ordered your us? As that doc should go over both ultrasounds with you, that is not the techs job- that is your docs job or the er docs job, if you are far enough along then you should see a fetus and a yolk sac at least , should be able to see a sac at 4 weeks, a yolk sac at 5 weeks and a fetal ht beat as early as 6 weeks and def at 7 weeks gestation and bhcg and prog canbedone.
