Depends: Different things are helpful at different times in the illness. An alzheimer's support group can be helpful as members often have loved ones at varying stages of he illness. The local alzheimer's association can also be helpful.

Patience patience : It gets overwhelming at times taking care of a person with alzheimer's, especially if you do not have help or relief. Initially forgetfulness is common but slowly expect other faculties to fail as the disease progresses. Person fades in to past and only the shadow of the person remains. Sameness, structure and routine helps the person as well as surrounded by known people who care. Patience is key.
