Solve the problem: Like a splinter in your finger, dental pain exists because there is a problem. Would you take pain medication and antibiotics to manage the splinter? Not likely: you would take it out! see your dentist. Solve the problem. Take fewer meds & be well :-).

See your dentist: There are a variety of pain medications that can treat tooth related pain. However, treatment of the affected tooth is the necessary step. If the pain is from decay or infection then see the dentist as soon as possible. If the pain is post operative in nature, then you can alternate Ibuprofen and acetaminophen. Prescription medications are also available if necessary.

Toothache: Good old Aspirin can help but you aren't solving the problem- see your dentist.

NSAIDS: like Dr. Robinson mentioned will temporarily dull your pain, but only your dentist can make the toothache go away. See your dentist before it gets worse.

Any: Any OTC nSaid will take the edge off, but pain will return stronger each time painkiller wears off. Toothache usually means infection. OTC's, painkillers, don't cure infections. You must see a Dentist for definitive treatment which may include prescription antibiotics as well as hands-on dental treatment.
