Swollen blood vessel: Fluid volume in the body increases during pregnancy and blood vessels enlarge to accomadate this. Veins and capillaries will swell as well and if these are in the nasal passages, they can lead to a feeling of stuffiness.

Rhinitis of pregnanc: It, is common in the last trimester to develop nasal congestion thought to be caused by placental growth factor. Topical nasal steroids can be helpful as can sudafed neither of which will harm your baby at this point to development. The steroid spray can also help you wean off the afrin. Speak to your obgyn first before trying these options.
