Only a few: Most people can have laser vision correction to improve their eyesight. To find out if you are a candidate, see a surgeon who does these procedures. In many cases, this initial visit is done with no cost to you and only takes a few minutes.

LASIK: A comprehensive eye exam is required to determine if you are a candidate for lasik, including topography, refraction, corneal thickness and a dilated exam. Most surgeons provide a free consultation. Good luck!

Healthy Eyes: A complete evaluation is required to determine of you are a good candidate for lasik. The eyes need to be healthy, have a stable prescription within treatable parameters, and there must be no signs of corneal or ocular disorders which may interfere with healing or vision. Most surgeons provide a complimentary consultation for lasik surgery.

LASIK: To qualify for LASIK surgery, you need a work up that includes medical history and eye exam to rule out systemic or eye disease that can interfere with proper healing. Stable glasses prescription. Measurements of the thickness and curvatures of the cornea (pachymetry and topography). Above all, you must have a reasonable understanding and expectation of possible results. Good luck!
