Is it possible to have no swelling in their joints to have rheumatoid arthritis?

Yes: While rheumatoid arthritis is usually associated with joint swelling, multiple areas of joint pain is the most common symptom. Early stages may not be associated with much swelling. I would recommend you see your primary care physician if they are comfortable or a rheumatologist for further evaluation. Usually involves labs to diagnose rheumatoid arthritis and/or other inflammatory arthritides.

No: Ra is an inflammatory arthritis. No swelling and no inflammation means no ra.

RA: Not likely. Ra is an inflammatory disorder of the joints. There may be no visible swelling if the disease is well controlled, very early onset, or in "remission".
