Infection: Pyorrhea is another name for gum disease. It can begin as gingivitis which is the reversible form of gum disease, but if left untreated it will progress to periodontitis, which is irreversible and destructive to the supporting bone that holds the teeth in place. This infection process will continue until stopped. Always a good idea to treat it early.

Many: Pain is not always present. Swollen gums, bleeding gums , loose teeth, foul odor often present, hard deposits along teeth at and below gumline. This is also known as periodontal disease. The tissues and bone are affected. You need to get yourself to a periodontist for care if you feel you have this condition. Much can be done these days to help you.
