Multiple: This is a difficult question to answer. Depending on what type of physician that you visit, there will be different answers and treatment options for you. Most important would be to lose weight, stop smoking and stay active. Other options include injections, medications, pt, surgery, and rest to name a few.

Depends on diagnosis: Most cases I see are due to sitters disease or gait (ex; foot position). But you need to identify the origin and rule out more serious causes.
