Normal: This is an aphtha or other necrotizing lesion. It hurts but will heal fine. If no healing in 2 weeks, a physician's office visit is in order.

Wait: The white film should slough off within a week. If the plaque persists beyond this time, it would be practical to have it evaluated by your doctor.
