A vaginal infection: Not deadly just annoying. Usually either from a yeast infection or a bacterial infection. The bacterial infection can have a fishy odor, and is best treated by antibiotic gel that is a prescription. Yeast which gives itching and thick white discharge is treated by yeast medication from your drug store.

Answers below: Vaginitis is usually caused by bacteria or fungus. The woman's body can allow these infections to occur and the symptoms include discharge, irritation, itching, pain, odor. If you get a diagnosis and treatment the infections resolve quite quickly. They can be transmitted by sex so get your partner treated too. See your gyn or pcp and do not worry.
