A member asked:

Our 20mth old son-tubes put in his ears in march. he's completed a course of antibiotics with no joy & has just started another. both ears are oozing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tubes R 4 drainage: Eartubes (myringotomy tubes) are placed to help drain the inner ears in those suffering recurrent/frequent infections. Tubes can't garantee that there will be no infections, but they do help drain it when there is one. Since there is no pressure build up with the tube in place, there is no pain but u can have/see drainage. Maybe the bugs are more resistant now. Reconsult doc for eval. Good luck.
