Why would severe tenderness (like 10 on 1-10 pain scale) due to injury of the soleus muscle not show up on the mri?

Tenderness: An MRI would show a tear. It is unclear if you have that. Need to speak to the doctor who ordered the test.

Tendonitis: If the pain is due to a microscopic problem it won't show on mri. Also if it is localized to one small spot ur better off w an ultrasound then a whole leg mri.
