Kidney stone: They may likely do a urine test and a test to check kidney fuction. The standard radiologic proceedure today is a cat scan looking for stones.

H&P, urinalysis, CT: The work up would start with a complete history and physical. If there is high suspicion for a kidney stone, a urine sample would be obtained to check for blood, bacteria, etc.. The final step may involve getting a CT scan to look for stones and to evaluate for urinary obstruction as a result of the stones.
