Lots of causes : Melanoma is a very deadly type of skin cancer. If you are concerned about melanoma because of a swollen lymph node, i would suggest you see a dermatologist who can do a complete full body skin exam as well as check the lymph nodes. From there, an assessment can be made as to what to do next. Lymph node swelling with or without tenderness can be caused by many many things. Get it checked out.

Lymph nodes: Melanomas are unique tumors and depending upon their primary site or location in the body, they certainly can involve either one(sentinel) lymph node or multiple nodes.
