Scars take time : If you just had the surgery , you will need to be patient. Scars take time to mature -a least a year. If you form abnormal scars see your plastic surgeon.

Follow instructions : Minimize wound tension, smoking and sun exposure. Silicone sheeting may also be useful. I typically recommend long term taping of the wound which is easy to comply with post operatively and i requires changing only once a week.

Time: It can take up to two years after your procedure for maximal results, so time is the best thing. Silicone creams or sheets can help reduce scarring. Laser treatment can be useful for problematic scars.
