Depends: Withdrawal can last up to a week but there is an abstinence syndrome which is mostly psychological that can last up to 6 months. Weaning by 50% every 3-4 days would help minimize the withdrawal. Best for baby to be off it as soon as possible. Should not stop abruptly as tramadol also has effect onnorepinephrine and serotonin.

Just an opinion: Consider not stopping. It is category c and has more than a pain control effect. It also, at 150 mg, an antidepressant of the snri class. Norepinephrine helps block ascending pain. It works like Cymbalta (duloxetine) in this way. Reports of tramadol problems in baby are few. You will not have narcotic w/d but stopping antidepressant may have sx's. 150mg is low dose and likely more helpful than harmful.
