Reasons: Did the pain start suddenly? Is it moving any where? Any kind of injury that u recall? Sudden onset muscle pain is likely from injury/ pull. Try anti inflammatory medication. However if pain getting worse then u need to see a doc.

Evaluation: Go for evaluation. There are many reasons for back pain: cardiac, kidney stones, arthritis, herniated disk, strain. If it is cardiac, it is an emergency.
