Humidity: Croup can be scary for child and parent but can usually be managed at home.Encourage drinking fluids, run a vaporizer, sit in steamy shower. The more humid the better. Keep child calm and comfortable by reading a favorite story or another quiet activity. Going outside in cool air may help. Moderate cases require a single dose of decadron, (dexamethasone) severe are hospitalized -racemic epi, IV hydration, o2.
