A member asked:

Can you develop epilepsy for no reason or is there a cause?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Likely a cause: Some sporadic seizures elude explanation, but there is always some cause, just hard to find. Some medications can cause seizures, such as welbutrin or tramadol, but recreational drugs also (cocaine, amphetamines), alcohol, head injuries, occult viral meningitis (diagnosed as a migraine), congenital brain scars, maldevelopmental areas of brain.
