Possibly: The stage of development, position of and proximity to the major nerve supplying the lower jaw (mandibular nerve) are very important. If the doctor feels that room for proper development of the wisdom tooth is too little, then removing it before the root is fully developed is important. I recommend removal of lower 3rd molars at approx 14 years old; with less chance of roots disturbing this nerve.
