Hard to tell: There is an entity called benign essential edema. However, this should not extend to whole body swelling. It has no obvious reason and responds to salt restriction and water pills. In view of negative work up, make sure you are not taking a medicine that causes swelling like actos, avandia, (rosiglitazone) and norvasc. Avoid high salt i.e. Bread and rolls, cured and processed meat, pizza, pickles, & fast food.
