Autosomal Recessive: Congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis is inherited in an autosomal recessive, which means both copies of the gene have mutations. The parents with an autosomal recessive condition each carry one copy of the mutated gene, but they typically do not show signs of the condition. Brain damage is common from hyperthermia due to absent sweating. Most die by 3 years of age.
