Can't tell: A temp of 99.2 after surgery is normal. Depending on the surgery performed IV antibiotics maybe continued for up to 24-48 hours as a prevention of infection. Having pain at incision sites is also common. Ask your surgeon. He/she know what was done and is the one who actually saw everything.

Post op problem: Temperature of 99 really is not elevated very much. It almost always comes from lungs, when pts are too tired or too uncomfortable to cough and breathe deeply. It takes about 4 days for a post-op infection to install. Pain is also a part of the post-op scenario. It is not always completely alleviated by pain medications. If you continue to be concerned, call your surgeon and schedule a visit.
