Low: Same as general population. Make sure your child does not have dental infection.

Talk to your doctor: Treatment with IV antibiotics for 6 weeks is the recommended treatment, but your doctor can tell you specifically how much, if any, chance there is of it happening again. It depends on the germ, the antibiotics, how long it had been going on, the surgery, and the child's overall health. Your heart doctor is the one who needs to specifically answer your question.
