Would raising kids and being married make major depression worse?

Not necessarily: One short answer might be: it could, but not necessarily. The two family circumstances you mention can obviously be both enlivening and fulfilling, but also stressful and demanding. With marriage and kids, two key things that might help lower the risk of exacerbating depressive symptoms would be 1) maintaining a good support system with friends and family, and 2) ongoing self care habits.

MAJOR DEPRESSION: It is important to find the correct combination of medications with your Psychiatrist. But medications alone are not sufficient because they do not teach you coping mechanisms for stress. Psychotherapy with a Clinical Psychologist can help you find ways to handle new situations and stress that will help your medications to work better. It is time well well-spent to invest in well-being.
