A member asked:

How do you know if you have gastroenteritis or stomach ulcer because of ibuprofen?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cause and effect: If you are a chronic user of Ibuprofen or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and you are symptomatic (abdominal pain, nausea/vomiting, blood in the stool etc) it is very possible that the drug is the cause. A more common cause of a stomach ulcer is helicobacter pylori (a bacterium that can infect the stomach). A gastroenterologist can help make the diangosis with endoscopy if needed.
