Quite different: Peptic ulcer disease refers to painful ulcers in the lining of the stomach or duodenum( prox. Small bowel)..Infection with bacteria called h. Pylori causes ulcers. Nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (nsaids) can also cause ulceration as well as excess acid production. Gastroenteritis is caused by virus and usually produces combination of vomiting and diarrhea.
