Possibly: Both hyper and hypothyroidism can cause myopathy, which can present as muscle and joint pain. Although this is not the most common symptom of thyroid problem, it certainly need to be ruled out. A simple thyroid blood test will tell whether or not your thyroid function is not normal.

Highly unlikely: Look for other causes- like arthritis in cervical spine.
