I am pregnant and have a terrible toothache. i can't get it extracted until my 2nd trimester. i am taking acetaminophen like crazy. will taking too much harm my baby?

Maybe: You can have your tooth treated now. Local anesthetics would have no harm to your baby. You may have consulted an oral surgeon who correctly advised against an intravenous anesthetic at this stage of pregnancy. Ask about using a local anesthetic instead.

Discuss with: Have you discussed this issue with both your dentist and obstetrician? Have they consulted with each other? Even though the second trimester is the safest time to perform many dental procedures, it does not mean that you absolutely cannot have a tooth extracted during this time. More importantly, your dentist might be able to do some temporary treatment to relieve your pain in the meantime.

Yes you can: You can have emergency dental treatment in first trimester. Dealing with tooth pain puts a large load on your body which is not good for your baby. Have it taken care of now, .
