Tender to touch: Implies its in teh chest wall, and can be from the ribs or muscle. The lungs have no such pain nerves, and would not hurt to the touch. Rib/muscle pain like any bone or muscle can come from bruise, fractures, strains/tear, overuse etc., these tend to heal slowly, and other than pain meds and ice, we don't have much to offer. See your doc sooner if it persists or if you have a history of cancer.
