Antiviral: Used in cases where acute influenza is suspected, this medication is dosed twice daily for 5 days. It may also be used as prophylaxis, when a person at risk or in poor health is exposed to a flu patient, and the influenza has not yet become active.

Anti influenza med: Tamiflu (oseltamivir) is for treating people 1 year and older with influenza (flu) whose symptoms started within the last 2 days. Tamiflu (oseltamivir) can also reduce the chance of getting the flu. Tamiflu (oseltamivir) is not a substitute for an annual flu vaccination.
