Ointment for impetig: Now available as generic mupirocin, it is prescription to treat staph & strep skin infections such as impetigo. It is also used to reduce carriage of staph bacteria in the nose. Largely due to overuse, resistent staph are now a problem. It comes as a cream or ointment.
