Rx for type 2 diabet: It is a sulfonylurea, used 2 rx thye 2 didetics.It intices the pancreas to secrete more insulin. Carries some risk in the early 2 wks of rx, esp hypo glycemia. Also not 4 use in those with sulfa allergies or during pregnancy. Side effects can be serious tho those r rare. After initiating rx b monitored closely for a few weeks. Etoh & sun increase side effects.
