Herniated disc : This may be cause by a herniated disc. I recommend being evaluated by a spine specialist. You may need an MRI to fully evaluate this.

Other possibilities?: You are young to have degenerative disease of the thoracic spine - it is more common in people over 40. Right-sided pain of the back and rib cage makes me ask about the possibility of gall bladder disease, though weakness would be uncommon. Nerve compression from degenerative changes could cause pain and weakness. But please see your doctor about this! good luck. Lgromko md.
