Supervise.: Never leave an infant or toddler in a bathtub alone -- never. Stay within arm's reach of your child around any water, including toilets and buckets. Keep lids to toilets down, never leave water in an unattended bucket, and store buckets upside down.

Water safety: A six month old has limited mobility, but certainly if you have a pool or are near water ( lake etc) you should, have a safety gate protecting him/her and i suggest swimming lessons ASAP- there are many different companies that teach babies to swim. NEVER leave the baby within any distance of water without CONSTANT supervision- it only takes a minute to drown.
