Timing is everything: Dont exercise within 2-3 hours of your desired bed time if you can help it. Exercise helps sleep problems but can sabotage it if it is too intense too closely to your desired sleep time.

Yes, hours before: Physical (and mental) exercise can be helpful in promoting better quality sleep. But, it's best to conclude vigorous exercise at least several hours before bed to allow yourself to calm down and to allow your circadian rhythm (24-hour cycle) to work naturally. Superior idea: exercising outside in the early morning light.
