Skin infections: The tissues/skin around the eyes becomes infected, by definition this means that there is no pus behind the eyes which can be a lethal condition, this condition is called orbital cellulitis and is an emergency, .

Serious: Periobital cellulitis can be caused by infections around the eye. If this infection goes behind the eye into the orbit then it can cause blindness and rarely death. Get an eye exam asap please.
