How can i treat periorbital cellulitis?

See an eye doctor: Periorbital cellulitis is an infection of the eyelids that causes swelling, tenderness and some degree of difficulty opening the lids. It can be easily treated with oral and topical antibiotics. If left untreated, it can develop into orbital cellulitis - a potentially life-threatenting condition. If you have swollen eyelids, please see an eye doctor immediately.

See an ID specialist: Periorbital -or more specifically, preseptal cellulitis- refers to the inflammation of the soft tissues of eyelid and periorbtal area, leading to redness and swelling. An id physician can help determine the potential origin of the infection (a dental cavity or else a pimple on the nose) and prescribe the most appropriate antibiotic.
