Hairy Tongue: Furry tongue is so named because of the appearance of the furry look on the surface of the tongue. Use of tobacco and alcohol, too much sugar in the diet, use of oxidizing mouth wash, HIV infections, over growth of oral fungus, and poor oral hygiene can all increase the possibility of having a furry tongue.
