Electrical pulses : Vagus nerve stimulation prevents seizures by sending small pulses of electrical energy to the brain via the vagus nerve. These pulses are supplied by a device something like a pacemaker commonly implanted under skin in the chest.

VNS: Vagus nerve stimulator is usually recommended for people who do not have adequate control of seizures with medication only. A small device is inserted around armpit and a wire is attached to vagus nerve in the neck area. This has shown to decrease the number of seizure.
