98% positve - celiac: Iga antitransglutaminase antibodies are 98% sensitive for diagnosis of celiac disease. Iga antibodies as a whole are situated on the surface lining of intestines. Iga antibodies are like the guns mounted on the old fortresses to expel enemies - the first line of defense. In celiac disease by mistake this antibody is directed against tissue transglutaminase and results in symptoms of celiac.

Celiac disease : Since 1997, tissue transglutaminase has been recognized to be the autoantigen pathophysiologically recognized by the immune system that leads to celiac disease. Testing IgA antibodies to ttg is a diagnostic marker that for diagnosing celiac disease that is pretty reliable and relatively inexpensive. There can be false pos and false neg, though.
